Introduction

 

Sunshine Care Agency Ltd offers a unique combination of home, health and care services to Hammersmith and Fulham community and surrounding areas.


Our services provide practical support and day-to-day human contact to individuals in vulnerable situations, enabling them to stay in the familiar surroundings of their own home.


We provide care to individuals financed by their Local Authority,
individuals who are self funding (private) or those on the Direct Payments Scheme.

Care and support are provided by highly skilled, competent care workers and can be provided on either a live-in or live-out basis.

Aims and objectives of the agency

 

The agency commits to:

 

  1. Working with each client, social workers, relatives, carers (as appropriate) and all others associated with his/her care towards identifying, implementing and reviewing a personal care plan which adequately reflects his/her needs at any one time;
  2. Promoting independent living, working within the client’s range of abilities and competencies;
  3. Delivering care, in the client’s home in a manner which is non-discriminatory, sensitive to the cultural needs of the client and respectful of their environment and traditions;
  4. Providing a high-quality flexible, responsive and non – intrusive service that is tailored to the needs of the individual;
  5. Ensuring that confidential information is protected at all times and only shared with others strictly in accordance with its policy on confidentiality;
  6. Working in partnership with other agencies involved in care in order to ensure a seamless all-round and cost-effective service.

The nature of the services provided

 

The agency employs care workers and provides a comprehensive range of domiciliary care services directly to the client.

 

Care may be provided in the following areas:

 

  • Practical help, and domestic tasks;
  • Personal care;
  • Support with medication by prompting of medication via non-invasive routes only
  • Support with meal preparation
  • Companionship
  • Live in care
  • 24 hours live in support
  • Waking and sleep-in night support

 

 

People for whom care is provided

 

Care will be provided to those individuals, in need, who approach the agency directly, or are referred to us.

 

Care will be provided on the clear understanding that:

 

  1. The needs of each individual have been carefully assessed;
  2. Those needs fall into the general classifications of care for which the agency has been registered; and
  • The workforce of the agency has the competence and experience to handle those individual cases calling for specialist help and support (either immediately or following specific training).

The range of qualifications, of the domiciliary care workers supplied by the agency. 


Through its robust recruitment and selection policy the agency undertakes to employ only those persons it believes have the requisite skills, education, training, prior work experience and attitude which will compliment and enhance the quality of care we deliver. 


All staff are provided with an induction training programme and further ongoing training, appraisal, supervision and support as needed. All job applicants are required to apply for enhanced disclosure DBS in order that the agency may be satisfied that they are appropriate persons to look after clients and/or shall be registered with the Independent Safeguarding Authority.

 

All of the agency’s care workers will have a Health & Social Care Qualification such as The Care Certificate, BTEC Level 1, NVQ/QCF L2 /L3 or are committed to studying for this qualification. Care workers are assigned to clients on the understanding that they have the requisite qualifications, skills, experience and aptitude to look after them properly.

 

Quality Assurance


Sunshine Care Agency Ltd is committed to ensuring that services continue to meet the user’s needs.


Our Quality Assurance starts with the recruitment of the best carers possible and continues with systematic and ongoing monitoring of their performance. Delivering a consistent high quality service is our priority.


This is achieved through the implementation of a three stage action plan, which will mean obtaining care users feedback at three levels, beginning with the completion of a satisfaction survey, telephone satisfaction survey and face to face interviews with service users or their representative, guaranteeing an in-depth strategy of obtaining care users views and opinions. All service users at the first stage will be asked to complete a user satisfaction survey. Regular audits of minor issues arising in daily care provision and of compliments and complaints received by the company. We also meet regularly with staff to ensure that their views are sought.


The service will be audited and evaluated against the National Minimum Standards, and against our service outcomes.


Insurance

 

Sunshine Care Agency Ltd care is adequately insured to meet the requirements of Employers and Public Liability. Sunshine care staff are warned not to undertake any unsafe manoeuvring of Service Users and are well trained in moving & handling. Sunshine care staff will under no circumstances attempt to use broken equipment or furniture.

 

The Service User is expected to cover insurance for any accidental damage that may occur to any object in the Service Users home, or an accident to staff caused by any unsafe object or equipment. Risk assessments are on-going in the Service Users home while staff are in attendance.

The Relevant Qualifications and Experience of the Registered Provider and any Registered Manager:


The Responsible individual/Registered Manager is Adelaja Oduyela and has 5 years experience within domiciliary care setting, covering all aspects of care work, business management, recruitment, administration, care management and policies & procedures.


Qualifications and work experience of Responsible Individual: NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Leadership management for HSC & CYPW, he also holds an NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care and NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People’s Workforce and Skills for Care Common Induction. He has completed the following training courses: Appraisal, Risk Assessment, Adult Safeguarding foundation, Adult Safeguarding – Management Responsibilities, Personal Development, Conflict Management, Medication Management, Recruitment & Selection, Moving & Handling, Health & Safety including Fire, Direct Payments and general awareness course, Dementia and Employee Investigation.


Circumstances resulting in refusal of care


The circumstances in which the agency may cease to provide services to a service user:


There are certain exceptional circumstances in which a service would be withdrawn. These are usually as a consequence of risk to the health and safety of service users and /or care workers.


They include environmental factors where the home is unsafe for staff to work in, where certain infections are present or, where service user behavior is such that it would be unsafe for staff to work. Domiciliary Care Officers carry out detailed risk assessments of each home to establish whether any measures for staff safety are identified. In exceptional circumstances a meeting would be arranged with all interested parties, issues discussed, actions agreed.


In the event of staff being replaced due to absence, we will ensure that contact is made in the first instance outlining the temporary change in service.


In the event of a permanent change, as a result of a review, an outcome letter will detail these changes to the Service User.

Data Protection Compliance

 

Sunshine Care Agency Ltd is committed to the principles inherent in the GDPR 2018 and particularly to the concepts of privacy by design, the right to be forgotten, consent and a risk-based approach.

 

In addition, we aim to ensure:

  • transparency with regard to the use of data
  • that any processing is lawful, fair, transparent and necessary for a specific purpose
  • that data is accurate, kept up to date and removed when no longer necessary
  • that data is kept safely and securely.

 

Staffing


Our Data Protection Officer (DPO)/appointed data protection person is Frederick Oduyela. He works with a data protection team to promote awareness of the GDPR throughout the organisation and to oversee the organisation's commitment to best practice. He will inform and advise the organisation and monitor its compliance.

 

Policy


Our data protection policy is available on our website and a copy will be made available to all employees and to service users and relevant bodies associated with this organisation. It forms part of the induction training of all new staff and follow-up sessions will be put in place if the legislation changes or further guidance is available.

 

Data loss


If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in a risk to the rights and freedoms of individuals, the people affected will be informed as soon as possible and the ICO will be notified within 72 hours. Any questions related to GDPR or to issues concerning data protection generally should initially be addressed to the Data Protection Officer.
